Product Design Engineer - Technical (DRI)

Job Summary
Develop new materials, devices, and processes to advance current and future product offerings while analyzing competitor patents and supporting related filings. Solve production problems associated with materials and products, work with suppliers to reduce costs or simplify manufacturing, and document experimental data in accurate notebooks and databases. Manage project teams by leading meetings, tracking progress, and reporting findings to senior leadership, while coordinating assembly, testing, and technical collaboration across disciplines. Perform laboratory activities for research projects and consult with group members on R&D duties. This onsite role in Zeeland, MI, requires a Bachelor's in Engineering or related field with two years of research experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, Mathematics or a related field
- 2+ years of relevant research experience
- Proven creativity and strong problem-solving abilities and track record
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree or a PhD in Engineering, Science or a related field
- Ability to quickly comprehend and apply new technology and be proactive
- Demonstrated technical interdisciplinary skills
- Project management skills
- Knowledge of statistics and data analysis, particularly using programming languages such as Python or R
