Job Summary
Senior Product Design Engineer responsible for designing new products and product improvements based on functional specifications, applying engineering principles and Finite Element Analysis. Utilize SolidWorks for 3-D design, perform tolerance stack-up analysis and GD&T, and develop test plans to validate designs. Lead cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time, ensure integrity of drawings/BOMs/engineering specs, and support customers, suppliers, and internal groups. Knowledge of manufacturing processes (sand/investment/die casting, injection molding, machining, metal forming) and experience with regulatory standards (ASTM, ANSI B31.1, API-675, ANSI/HI 6.6). Travel limited; onsite work arrangement with potential for occasional deployments to manufacturing environments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience
- Proficient in SolidWorks 3-D design software
- Experience performing Finite Element Analysis
- Ability to develop and execute complex project plans and lead cross functional teams
- Experience with manufacturing processes such as sand casting, investment casting, die casting, injection molding, machining, and metal forming
- Able to develop product test plans and perform testing to validate designs
- Must understand materials for wrought and cast, gray/ductile iron, steel, stainless steel, bronze, aluminum, and plastics
- Ability to read and apply engineering standards (ASTM, ANSI B31.1, API-675, ANSI/HI 6.6)
- Strong communication and collaboration across departments
- Travel: Limited travel may be required
