Job Summary
Product Design Engineer role focusing on designing transmission-line structures in the utility infrastructure sector. Responsibilities include designing transmission lines using specialized structural software, creating comprehensive drawing packages for steel pole structures, mentoring engineering teammates, communicating with customers to obtain clarifications and drive project decisions, performing computer modeling and sizing of structures, producing detailed CAD drawings from sketches and notes, executing non-routine design calculations, coordinating with drafting personnel to finalize production drawings, organizing drawing packages in tracking systems, analyzing technical reports and drawings to plan project specifications, applying safety codes and utility standards to ensure project compliance, and assisting manufacturing shop personnel with fabrication issues. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, PE certification or ability to obtain one, 3+ years of relevant experience, proficiency in AutoCAD and PLS-Pole, and strong analytical and communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
- Professional Engineer certification or capacity to obtain one
- 3+ years of experience designing steel pole structures for electrical transmission, substation, and distribution applications
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and PLS-Pole
- Experience with heavy structural fabrication and tower structures
- Ability to interpret safety codes and regulatory frameworks
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work on diverse, non-routine assignments
