Job Summary
Product Design Engineer III at Mate Precision Technologies responsible for researching, engineering, and designing standard and custom product platforms balancing customer needs with quality, manufacturability, cost, delivery, and safety. Oversees engineering projects from concept through implementation, collaborates with manufacturing, quality, sourcing, sales, and external partners, coordinates testing and prototyping activities, evaluates product performance, and recommends design improvements to enhance functionality, quality, and cost effectiveness. Involves innovation efforts including supporting patent activities and identifying new product ideas. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, 10+ years of experience, 5+ years in manufacturing, strong 3D CAD, GD&T, and mechanical design skills, familiarity with metallurgy, experience with FEA, and strong communication skills. Location specified as Anoka, MN, US (two entries) with in-person work expected. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 10+ years of related engineering experience
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong experience with 3D CAD systems, mechanical drafting, and GD&T
- Strong understanding of mechanical assemblies and mechanism design
- Familiarity with metallurgy and metallurgical processes
- Experience solving complex engineering problems using tools such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing
- Experience with machining and metrology methods is a strong plus
- Experience with U.S. and international patents is a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
