Job Summary
Product Design Engineer at Aquablu leading end-to-end mechanical and industrial design for volume-production hardware, spanning mechanical, industrial design, electronics, and embedded software with in-house design and manufacturing through contract partners. Owns concepts through prototyping and production-release documentation; translates CMF direction into manufacturable output and resolves parting lines, sink marks, and draft angles in CAD; applies DFM/DFA/DFx (injection molding, sheet metal, CNC, welding, finishing), performs engineering validation (calculations, FEA, DFMEA, tests), and creates detailed GD&T drawings for tooling suppliers and assembly partners. Supports fast prototyping (3D printing, CNC, laser cutting) and maintains design through stage-gate reviews and formal design reviews. Requires strong SolidWorks skills, hands-on manufacturing knowledge, experience with consumer-facing or premium products, and clear English communication; bonus for multidisciplinary electromechanical assemblies, rendering tools, and regulatory exposure.
Required Qualifications
- 4–7 years in mechanical or industrial design engineering for volume production hardware
- Strong SolidWorks proficiency — complex assemblies, configurations, production-ready models
- Hands-on manufacturing knowledge: injection molding, sheet metal, CNC, welding, powder coating, anodising
- Experience designing consumer-facing or premium products where aesthetics matter as much as function
- High-quality GD&T technical drawings; FMEA and DFx applied throughout
- Stage-gate process experience with formal design reviews
- Fluent English (Dutch a plus)
Desired Qualifications
- Multidisciplinary electromechanical assemblies (mechanical + electronics + fluidics)
- Rendering tools: KeyShot, Blender, Adobe Suite
- FEA for structural and thermal validation
- Appliance, foodtech, or beverage dispensing hardware background
- Food-contact / regulated product experience (FDA/EU)
- PDM systems (3DEXPERIENCE, Teamcenter)
