Job Summary
In-house ERISA-focused Product Counsel to advise customer-facing teams and the product team on ERISA, IRC, and fiduciary obligations inherent in operating a 401(k) recordkeeping platform. You’ll provide real-time, practical legal guidance spanning plan sponsor/participant interactions and product development, translating complex ERISA requirements into actionable guidance, and ensuring compliance across disclosures and automated workflows. The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration with customer support, operations, and engineering, and requires comfort using AI tools in legal work. Strong ERISA expertise, fiduciary knowledge, and bar licensure are essential.
Required Qualifications
- 5–8 years ERISA experience focused on qualified retirement plans and fiduciary matters
- minimum of two years at a law firm practicing in ERISA
- experience with EPCRS and correction principles
- working knowledge of ERISA fiduciary duty and prohibited transaction rules
- experience translating legal conclusions into actionable guidance for non-legal teams
- bar admission in good standing or in-house status in any state
