Job Summary
Product Counsel at Candescent involves negotiating partner integration contracts, formulating terms of service, developing global privacy policies, drafting artificial intelligence policies, and ensuring compliance across product and enterprise usage. The role requires deep knowledge of privacy laws, strong interpersonal communication skills, and experience in advising clients on risk. Candidates must have a J.D. and at least 5 years of relevant experience, with a focus on privacy responsibilities in the SAAS space.
Required Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited, top tier law school and admission to a State Bar
- 5+ years as privacy counsel or product counsel in the SAAS space with privacy responsibilities, with at least 3 years in-house
- Deep knowledge of state and global privacy laws
- CIPP/E or similar privacy accreditation(s)
- Self-starter who works with urgency and proactively manages response timelines
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- Confidence and efficacy in client and customer-facing situations, presenting a positive and professional image
- Team player with attention to detail
- Continuing willingness to learn and upskill
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of regulatory law applicable to financial institutions and vendors to financial institutions including Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering laws, and Know Your Customer obligations
