Job Summary
Product Counsel at Fivetran to advise cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Privacy, GTM) on legal issues throughout the product development lifecycle. Responsibilities include counsel on intellectual property, software licensing, privacy, AI, security, and regulatory considerations; develop scalable legal guidance, policies, and training; partner with commercial, privacy, security, compliance, and corporate teams; monitor regulatory developments and translate them into actionable guidance; and perform related duties. Requires a J.D. and active bar membership, 4-7 years of SaaS product counseling experience, and strong communication skills. Role is full-time, hybrid with two days in-office per week, based in Denver, CO or Oakland, CA. Technologies used include Ironclad, Salesforce, Jira, Notion, Slack. Salary range for Oakland: $217,494—$271,867.50 USD; compensation ranges benefits and regions vary. Required Qualifications
- J.D. and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
- 4-7 years of relevant legal experience counseling SaaS companies
- Deliver high-quality legal analysis, attention to detail, and execution across a broad range of product counseling matters
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to articulate and defend risk analysis to technical, business, legal, and executive audiences
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments while balancing priorities and business objectives
- Creative mindset and ability to find solutions where others see barriers
- Experience advising software, SaaS, cloud infrastructure, developer tools regarding open-source software licensing, compliance, and governance (bonus)
- Experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude or similar) to enhance legal workflow efficiency
