Product Assurance & Quality Assurance Engineer

Job Summary

Maintain product assurance plans across satellite payload, ground segment, and software projects, tailoring activities to mission class and risk. Flow down requirements to suppliers, manage non-conformance processes, and chair review boards for dispositioning. Witness mandatory inspection points during assembly and test, verify configuration baselines, and control acceptance data packages. Perform dependability analyses including FMECA and worst-case assessments, while managing the quality management system and ISO 9001 certification. Report assurance status to management and support project milestone reviews with compliance data. Work within a multidisciplinary team to contribute to technical proposals and bid responses.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related technical discipline from a recognized institution
  • Minimum four years of demonstrable product assurance or quality assurance experience in the space sector, or in aviation, defence, or another safety-critical regulated sector with demonstrated transfer of practice to space projects
  • Working knowledge of the ECSS quality and product assurance standards and their application to spacecraft and ground segment projects
  • Demonstrated ownership of the non-conformance, waiver, and deviation process through to customer disposition
  • Experience of quality assurance during assembly, integration, and test, including definition and witnessing of inspection points and acceptance of test results
  • Experience of supplier quality assurance, including audits, source inspection, and flow-down of assurance requirements
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, including execution of internal audits and management of corrective actions
  • Experience of compiling and controlling acceptance data packages and as-built configuration records
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Resident in Europe with valid right to work
  • As part of the recruitment process, candidates may be required to provide a criminal record certificate issued within the last three (3) months

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience of ESA-contracted projects, including ESA PA/QA reporting, review, and deliverable expectations
  • Experience of smallsat, CubeSat, or NewSpace constellation programmes, including tailoring of assurance activity and justification of COTS components for short-duration LEO missions
  • Experience of software and FPGA firmware product assurance
  • Experience of radiation effects assessment, including interpretation of TID and SEE test data and definition of radiation hardness assurance approaches
  • Experience of executing dependability analyses, including FMECA and worst-case analysis
  • Qualification as ISO 9001 lead auditor or equivalent
  • Familiarity with verification management and configuration management practice
  • Experience of ground segment or cloud infrastructure assurance, including service availability and operational quality metrics
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and to sustain an evidence-based technical position under commercial and schedule pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Knowledge of French, German, or Luxembourgish
