Product and Packaging Technologist

Job Summary
Develop and execute New Product Development and Ideation and Realisation projects within cross-functional teams, leading factory trials to evaluate and optimize product and packaging designs. Ensure all standards meet technical, safety, and regulatory compliance while driving industrialization activities to achieve commercial targets. Build and maintain knowledge of relevant legislations including Food Standards and NAL Safety legislation, and lead the packaging function for the site by supporting production projects and working closely with suppliers. Participate in HACCP audits, regulatory activities, and permit applications, utilizing SAP for recipe development and ingredient data management.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years' experience in a similar role
- Food Science, Applied Science, Engineering or similar minimum Bachelor Degree qualification
- Minimum 3+ years in product & or packaging development within the food manufacturing industry
- Experience with project management and stakeholder management
- Participation in Stage Gate managed new product introduction projects, timelines and project management
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills
- Knowledge of continuous improvement and problem-solving tools
- Ability to provide strong leadership and technical training to factory personnel
- Proven track record in delivering results by working with cross-functional teams
- Applicants must have full New Zealand working rights

Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience and familiarity working with SAP preferred
- A working understanding of NZ Food Regulations is beneficial
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and a proven capacity to influence and negotiate to drive high standards of performance and quality
