Job Summary
Produce daily, multi-platform newscasts for WFMY-TV Greensboro by pitching and crafting stories, meeting daily deadlines, and combining live pictures, graphics, video, and sound to create engaging experiences for a local audience. Collaborate with a team to deliver original storytelling, investigative journalism, and audience-focused shows across streaming and broadcast platforms. Use data analytics to shape content, ensure diverse voices are represented, and adapt to breaking news while maintaining newsroom standards and a clear local-news philosophy. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree (preferred) or equivalent experience, 1-3 years in news content, strong communication, newsroom judgment, ENPS/Edius familiarity, and robust social media and organizational skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in journalism, communications or related field or equivalent years of experience
- 1-3 years of news content experience
- Top-notch communication skills
- Solid journalistic judgement and a news philosophy that emphasizes accurate, fair and unique local content, along with community engagement
- Understanding of the tenets of professional journalism
- Skills in producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content
- Strong social media skills, including an active news hound presence on your preferred social platforms
- Organizational skills and the ability to work under time pressure deadlines
- Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events
- ENPS and Edius system experience preferred
