Job Summary
As a Produce Quality Control Inspector at Sobeys’ Voila CFC in Vaughan, you will inspect inbound produce to ensure adherence to specifications and SOPs, evaluate quality through sampling and defect identification, verify attributes such as weight, temperature, size, firmness and packaging integrity, and communicate findings to Replenishment and Category Management. You will reject non-conforming products, complete daily inventory quality inspections, monitor handling and cold chain compliance, verify testing equipment calibration, coordinate government inspections and regulatory sampling, and document results to support product quality, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in retail produce, produce growing, wholesale produce operations, produce inspection, or a related quality assurance role
- Strong knowledge of fresh produce quality standards, defects, maturity indicators, and handling requirements
- Understanding of food safety programs, regulatory requirements, and cold chain management
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments
- Strong attention to detail and ability to make objective quality assessments
- Ability to prioritize competing demands and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency with documentation, reporting, and quality control processes
