Job Summary
Manage the sales and operations of the Produce Department, overseeing quality control, merchandising, and cleanliness. Handle inventory management and create staffing schedules to ensure maximum productivity. Recruit, hire, and make promotion decisions while coaching team members through performance reviews and corrective actions. Serve as a Key Carrier or Manager on Duty as needed. Perform general housekeeping, including sanitizing work areas, and operate equipment like pallet jacks and six-wheel carts. Adhere to safety regulations and maintain a Food Handlers permit. Work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- 1-3 years of experience working in a grocery retail setting
- Management experience in produce
- A basic knowledge of math
- A basic knowledge of weights and measures
- Good communication skills
- The ability to take direction
- The ability to participate in a team environment
- The ability to stand throughout the entire work day
- The ability to walk throughout the entire work day
- The ability to bend throughout the entire work day
- The ability to climb throughout the entire work day
- The ability to lift, stack and maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- The ability to lift, stack and maneuver heavy objects from 4" to 72"
- The ability to lift, stack and maneuver heavy objects for a distance up 3 feet
- The ability to lift, stack and maneuver heavy objects for between 10-50 hours without mechanical assistance
- The ability to use a pallet jack to move pallets a distance up to 20 feet
- The ability to use a pallet jack requiring a force of up to 85 pounds
- The ability to use a pallet jack for up to 5 hours
- The ability to maneuver six wheel carts requiring a force up to 35 lbs.
- The ability to maneuver six wheel carts for up to 2 hours
- The ability to maneuver six wheel carts for a distance up to 20 feet
- The ability to walk a total up to 5 miles in an 8 hour shift
- A Food Handlers permit
- The ability to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes
- The ability to work nights
- The ability to work weekends
- The ability to work holidays
- A working knowledge of personnel reports
