Produce Manager

Job Summary
Manage the sales and operations of the Produce Department, overseeing quality control, merchandising, inventory, and daily cleanliness. Recruit, hire, and make promotion decisions while coaching team members through performance reviews and addressing concerns. Create and adjust staffing schedules to ensure maximum productivity, execute corrective actions when needed, and serve as a Manager on Duty. Communicate standards and product knowledge to the team, ensuring adherence to safety and health regulations. Work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, utilizing physical capabilities for heavy lifting, pallet jacking, and extensive walking.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- 1-3 years of experience working in a grocery retail setting
- Management experience in produce
- A basic knowledge of math
- Weights and measures knowledge
- Good communication skills
- The ability to take direction
- The ability to participate in a team environment
- The ability to stand throughout the entire work day
- The ability to walk throughout the entire work day
- The ability to bend throughout the entire work day
- The ability to climb throughout the entire work day
- The ability to lift, stack and maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- The ability to lift, stack and maneuver heavy objects from 4 to 72 inches
- The ability to lift, stack and maneuver heavy objects for a distance up to 3 feet
- The ability to lift, stack and maneuver heavy objects for between 10 to 50 hours without mechanical assistance
- The ability to use a pallet jack to move pallets a distance up to 20 feet
- The ability to use a pallet jack requiring a force of up to 85 pounds
- The ability to use a pallet jack for up to 5 hours
- The ability to maneuver six wheel carts requiring a force up to 35 lbs.
- The ability to maneuver six wheel carts for up to 2 hours
- The ability to maneuver six wheel carts for a distance up to 20 feet
- The ability to walk a total up to 5 miles in an 8 hour shift
- A Food Handlers permit
- The ability to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes
- The ability to work nights
- The ability to work weekends
- The ability to work holidays
- A working knowledge of personnel reports
- A working knowledge of margin reports
- A working knowledge of weekly sales numbers
