Job Summary
Lead day-to-day department operations in a retail store, ensuring associates are trained, the team is fully staffed, and all company goals and key performance indicators are met. Order and maintain inventory while validating received orders for quality and condition, then manage team execution of stocking, production, and date-sensitive rotation. Implement work schedules, labor control, and payroll expenses, while developing and monitoring department forecasts and goals. Execute weekly Flight Plans, attend daily huddles and meetings, and ensure strict adherence to food and safety guidelines with immediate corrective action when needed. Maintain a clean, well-stocked department and apply Our Winning Recipe to model core values. High School Graduate required; two years retail and one year supervisory experience preferred. Full-time role based at SpartanNash's Grand Rapids location.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate (Required) or Equivalent (GED)
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Required to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently
- Subject to a typical retail store environment (varied temperatures)
- Exposure to outside weather conditions
- Noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate
Desired Qualifications
- Two years of retail experience preferred
- One-year supervisory experience preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication, and bookkeeping skills
- Good organization, prioritization, decision-making, problem solving and conflict management skills
- Strong leadership abilities with capability to work in a hands-on environment
- Good strategic planning and business acumen skills
- Good knowledge of retail store operations; knowledge of retail management systems
- Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to communicate in Spanish is highly desirable
