Job Summary
The Produce Manager is responsible for directing and managing all functions of the Produce Department to meet sales and profit goals. Key responsibilities include following merchandising plans, managing inventory, ensuring quality and accuracy in product handling, controlling department expenses, training and supervising staff, maintaining department cleanliness, and ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation regulations. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential along with hands-on capabilities for produce handling and customer interaction.
Required Qualifications
- High school education is a minimum requirement
- At least two years’ experience as a produce clerk
- Above average analytical skills
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Dexterity in hands for trimming and packaging produce
- Ability to unload, transport, and place merchandise
- Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds
- Must be able to stand upright for most of the scheduled work shift
