Job Summary
Directs the operation of the produce department, supervising and training personnel to ensure customer service, product quality, freshness, safety, and selection. Responsibilities include championing customer service programs, resolving customer complaints, managing day-to-day department functions, hiring and evaluating staff, scheduling to meet service levels and budgets, conducting inspections for freshness and quality, maintaining inventory and records, creating promotional displays, ensuring compliance with labeling, health, and food-safety regulations, assisting customers with product suggestions, handling inquiries, and potentially working nights, weekends, and holidays. Requires strong leadership and communication skills, knowledge of food safety and sanitation, ability to manage people and costs, and proficiency with relevant store systems and equipment.
