Produce Manager (60709)

Produce Department Manager responsible for the Produce Department to achieve maximum sales and profit while maintaining store conditions. Primary duties include greeting customers, handling inquiries and policies, supervising hiring/firing/evaluation of Produce staff, scheduling weekly labor, maintaining the display and merchandising plans, coordinating order and receiving of produce from vendors, ensuring product quality and freshness, supervising backroom operations, cleaning and safety procedures, inventory counting and price changes, and communicating with the store manager on operational decisions. Requires overseeing training and supervision of department personnel, rotating stock, ensuring proper case handling, and maintaining product displays and space allocation to support high impulse/demand items. Strong emphasis on customer service, teamwork, and adherence to store policies; preferred qualifications include high school diploma or equivalent, prior Produce Department and supervisory experience, and good interpersonal communication.
