Job Summary
Prepare, package, and neatly display fresh produce while inspecting items for freshness, damage, and proper rotation. Unload and sort incoming shipments, label merchandise, and remove damaged or un-saleable products to follow damage claim procedures. Operate, clean, and maintain all department equipment safely while keeping the work area clean and safe for customers and coworkers. Resolve customer complaints professionally and answer questions about products, procedures, and policies. Obtain a food handling permit within the first 14 days and complete ongoing training on the Cosentino Learning Plan. Work non-exempt shifts from 5am-12pm and 12p-7pm, Monday through Sunday, lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for long periods.
Required Qualifications
- A food handling permit
- Completion of ongoing training and development as listed on the Cosentino Learning Plan
- Knowledge of Cosentino Customer Service Standards
- Ability to operate, clean and maintain all equipment safely and competently
- Ability to meet or exceed productivity standards
- Ability to remove damaged, un-saleable or returnable product from shelves and follow proper procedures for damage claims
- Ability to keep work area and department clean and safe
- Ability to quickly unload and sort incoming shipments and neatly stock them
- Ability to label or price merchandise and obtain price signs
- Knowledge of department products, procedures and policies
- Ability to resolve customer complaints in a professional manner
- Knowledge of health regulations, sanitation guidelines and safety procedures
- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills
- Basic math and reading skills
- Ability to reach overhead with both arms up to a maximum of 72 inches
- Ability to twist at the waist and lift objects with both hands weighing up to 20 lbs
- Ability to push and pull grocery items to the proper locations as needed, up to a peak force of 25 lbs
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time on tile, asphalt, concrete or other hard surfaces
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Ability to bend and squat, at times all the way to floor level
- Ability to work in colder conditions of the grocery coolers and freezers
