Job Summary
Produce Department Associate handles stocking, merchandising, and customer support to keep the produce area well-stocked, clean, and visually appealing. Responsibilities include receiving/unloading deliveries, rotating stock using FIFO, monitoring inventory, labeling items with prices and expiration dates, inspecting quality, assisting customers with product selection, creating attractive displays, maintaining department cleanliness, following food safety guidelines, and collaborating with team members. Requires strong customer service and communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, basic math for counts and pricing, and physical ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds. Schedule includes early mornings, weekends, and holidays. High school diploma or equivalent preferred; previous produce-retail experience is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in a produce department or similar retail environment is a plus
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Basic math skills for handling inventory counts and pricing
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of produce varieties, handling, and storage requirements
