Job Summary
The Procurement Specialist at our DeSoto, Kansas facility leads sourcing efforts within the Animal Health division, driving procurement strategies for materials and services and delivering cost efficiencies. Responsible for strategic and tactical procurement activities including transfer support for product transfers, supplier consolidation, risk assessment, and supplier management. Key duties include developing and executing RFIs/RFPs via procurement platforms (e.g., Ariba), evaluating supplier proposals against predefined criteria, leading negotiations and award decisions, drafting and negotiating supplier agreements with Legal, establishing and monitoring supplier performance metrics (OTIF and KPIs), and driving ongoing supplier relationship management. The role requires strong stakeholder engagement across Technical, Quality, Operations, Finance, and Legal, with the aim of ensuring security of supply, regulatory compliance, and continuous cost optimization. The position emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, data analysis, and program/project management to deliver measurable outcomes and supplier value in support of the Animal Health division’s priorities.
Required Qualifications
- Education Minimum Requirement: Minimum High School diploma required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred
- Minimum 2 or more years’ experience in procurement, supply chain or other related experience
- Experience within the Life Sciences/Pharma/Animal Health Industry is a plus
- Demonstrated strong negotiation skills
- Must be capable of prioritizing, multi-tasking, and working to an agreed schedule
- Must be self-motivated and able to work both individually and as part of a team
- Must have a flexible approach to workload
- Experience managing projects and programs with multiple workstreams and cross functional resources
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, knowledge of ERP systems (Ariba is a plus); as well as ability to quickly learn new software systems
- Fluency in English (verbal and written)
