Job Summary
Lead strategic sourcing for M&E categories, including pipework, cable, and switchgear, while managing rebate agreements and fixed-price periods to mitigate commodity volatility. Review high-value tender enquiries for market pricing data, conduct supplier pre-qualification audits on financial stability and ethical practices, and manage call-off schedules for just-in-time material delivery. Identify single-point-of-failure risks in the supply chain and critique specifications for equal and approved alternatives that reduce lead times. Provide regular spend analytics and inflation trend reports to Operations and Financial Directors, chair quarterly supplier review meetings, and document post-project performance to refine the preferred supplier list.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 7+ years' procurement experience
- At least 3–5 years specifically within the M&E or Construction sectors
- Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a technical Engineering discipline
- MCIPS (Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply)
- Strong understanding of M&E components, from LV distribution boards to HVAC plant and specialized sub-contractor trades (BMS, Fire, Security)
- Proficiency in ERP and E-Procurement software (e.g., COINS, RedSky, or SAP)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel for spend analysis
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- A firm but fair negotiator
- Ability to build rapport with global manufacturers and local wholesalers
- Deep understanding of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) beyond the initial purchase price, including maintenance, energy, and disposal costs
Desired Qualifications
- MCIPS (Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) is highly desirable or essential
