Procurement Engineer

Job Summary

Source and procure mechanical, electrical, and technical components while reviewing engineering drawings, bills of materials, and specifications to identify procurement requirements. Identify, qualify, and develop new suppliers, solicit quotations, and negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, and contracts. Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production Planning to ensure materials meet design specifications, resolve supplier quality issues, and align procurement activities with manufacturing schedules and engineering change orders. Analyze market trends and supplier performance to drive cost reduction initiatives and support new product development. Maintain accurate purchasing records within the ERP system and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical field
  • 3-7 years of procurement, sourcing, purchasing, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and BOMs
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through
