Job Summary
Procurement Category Manager responsible for developing and executing end-to-end category strategies across the procurement lifecycle, leading contract negotiations and commercial reviews with key vendors, and guiding end-to-end sourcing and tender processes. Acts as the strategic interface with suppliers to drive performance, innovation, and continuous improvement through structured SRM frameworks. Optimises contractual arrangements to ensure service quality, cost efficiency, and delivery against SLAs, while providing expert procurement advice on sourcing decisions, contract optimisation, and vendor strategy. Leads due diligence, contract alignment, and supplier rationalisation to support integration programs, ensures compliance with procurement policies and regulatory risk frameworks, and tracks procurement benefits and cost-saving opportunities for business decision-making. The role sits in a strategic procurement function supporting large-scale programs with a focus on vendor engagement, contract alignment, and stakeholder collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in procurement processes and contract management within a large, complex organisation
- Strong contract negotiation capability across services and products, including managed services and software agreements
- Demonstrated ability to build, influence, and maintain effective relationships with key business stakeholders
- Ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced, dynamic procurement environment
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to interpret contracts, market dynamics, and financial implications
- Experience managing strategic supplier relationships and delivering measurable commercial outcomes
- Background in blue-chip or highly structured industries (eg. Mining, Energy or similar) preferred
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, drive alignment, and bring stakeholders on the journey
- Experience within the IT category is advantageous but not essential
- Experience with procurement systems and tools is advantageous
- Exposure to contract integration, acquisitions, or large-scale transformation programs is beneficial but not essential
