Job Summary
Start up molds and adjust process parameters to produce samples for first piece inspection, performing advanced troubleshooting for dimensional or visual issues. Identify improvements to molding processes regarding cavitation, cycle time, and parts containment while maintaining quality standards. Pull and set molds for production requirements and troubleshoot molding processes to ensure efficiency. Assist in root cause analysis of molding defects and submit detailed work orders to the tool room or maintenance department for repairs. Communicate problems and needs to the supervisor while practicing housekeeping to prevent environmental impacts.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2-5 years of experience working with molds (mold setting and injection mold processing) in a manufacturing environment
- Experience troubleshooting injection molding processes
- Experience with forklift and pallet jack operation
- Knowledge of plastic materials and their processing characteristics
- Experience with computer controlled machines
- Experience with Engel and Sumitomo machines and robot operation
- Formal plastics injection molding training
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to read and understand work instructions
- Mechanical aptitude
- Use of hand tools and precision measuring/testing instruments
- Ability to climb up and down ladders frequently
