Process Safety Engineering Student

Job Summary
Conduct risk reviews and support engineering assessments for new and existing process safety risks across Canadian Natural's operations in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia. Review and track Key Performance Indicators to ensure operating assets are maintained, while providing process safety and integrity support for ongoing operations, maintenance, and new projects. Participate in failure analysis of failed components and develop mitigation strategies for repairs. Perform Root Cause Analysis and contribute to initiatives supporting safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Work 5 days on, 2 days off, with site visits as required, starting May 2027 for a 12-month term.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in bachelor's degree program
- Chemical engineering preferred
- All other engineering disciplines will be considered
- Positive attitude and eagerness to learn
- Required to be physically and mentally fit for work
- Responsible attitude towards safety
- Demonstrate leadership
- Enjoy problem solving
- Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license or an equivalent out of province license
- A pre-employment drug screening test must be successfully completed
- All candidates applying to Canadian Natural must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions
