Job Summary
Monitor levels, temperatures, pressures, and flow rates while controlling and adjusting control systems and manually operated equipment. Troubleshoot process deviations, identify equipment needing maintenance, and issue Safe Work Permits for project work. Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve process issues and act as a resource for other operators. Perform routine operations following strict safety protocols and operating disciplines. This role requires working rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must be 18+, hold a valid US driver's license, and meet specific educational or military experience criteria. Technical testing is required to advance in the hiring process.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Must have a current, valid, United States driver license
- Must meet at least ONE of the following: 1. A minimum of an Associate's Degree in any field is acceptable if you meet the following criteria: 1 semester of College Algebra, 4 semesters of Science/Technology (computer, chemistry, biology, physics, environmental, mechanical), and 2 semesters communication classes (English, Speech, etc.)
- Must meet at least ONE of the following: 2. 3+ years of relevant military training/experience
- Must meet at least ONE of the following: 3. 5+ years of relevant Chemical & Manufacturing Process Operator experience
- Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Must be able to work rotating shifts as required for this role
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States
- No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position
- Must be able to lift hoses to climb ladders and stairs through multiple levels
- Must be able to bolt flanges, operate valves, and similar equipment
- Must be able to work in confined spaces
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment
- Must be able to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders
- Must be able to troubleshoot to resolve deviations and problems
- Must be able to accurately complete all required paperwork
- Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs
- Must be able to perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting
- Must be able to work in tight or closed-in spaces
- Must be able to climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground
- Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time
- Must be able to perform frequent lifting of material weighing approximately 55 lbs
- Must be able to work at heights greater than or equal to 4 ft off the ground
- Must have a strong focus on safety including the use of safety equipment and adherence to safety protocols
- Must have experience with operating and monitoring control systems and devices
- Must have experience with manually operated equipment
- Must have previous use of hand tools
- Must have the ability to resolve deviations and problems within the process
- Must have effective communication to resolve process issues
- Must have the ability to identify equipment requiring maintenance
- Must have the ability to clear and tag equipment
- Must have the ability to issue Safe Work Permits for maintenance and project work
- Must have the ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks efficiently to meet deadlines and achieve goals
- Must demonstrate leadership skills
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision within an empowered team environment
Desired Qualifications
- Completed the 'Catalyst Program' in Chemical Technology-Process Operations or Instrumentation Technology pathway
- Process Technology or any technical associates degree or higher
- Previous Chemical Plant Mechanic or Chemical Plant Operator experience
- Computer knowledge of Word, outlook, and Excel
