Process Improvement Engineer – Production & Maintenance

Job Summary

Support day-to-day production by working with Department Managers and Shift Supervisors to solve problems while maximizing safety, quality, and efficiency. Review operations of manual, robotic, and automated equipment to troubleshoot failures, minimize unplanned downtime, and identify improvement opportunities. Coordinate maintenance activities to ensure maximum uptime, balancing preventive and corrective work with production schedules. Apply statistical methods to identify manufacturing best practices and recommend improvements to operating methods. Investigate new methods, processes, and automation to increase safety, quality, and efficiency while reducing changeover times and consumables costs. Generate reports analyzing key metrics such as OEE, labor productivity, and machine downtime to reduce costs, scrap, and cycle times. Lead Continuous Improvement projects including Kaizen events, Lean activities, and 5S. Work with R&D and Manufacturing Engineering to trial and implement new products and equipment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with major in Materials, Metallurgy, or Mechanical preferred
  • Knowledge of workflows, ergonomics, tooling, and lean manufacturing, either on-the-job or through academic projects
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Candidates must be located within 50 miles of our Canonsburg, PA facility
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in metal forming, machining, grinding and/or polishing is a plus
  • Experience in the areas of numerically controlled systems, robotics, and automation is a plus
  • Proficient Computer skills with Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Outlook, Access, Visio, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, ProE or Solid Edge) is a plus
  • Experience with an ERP/MRP system
  • Experience with CMMS (maintenance work order) software/systems
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and OEM manuals to create accurate work procedures and maintenance routines
