Job Summary

Establish and develop scope documents, client specifications, and design requirements to produce construction documents for complex manufacturing infrastructure. Collaborate with on-site personnel, trades, and system owners to assess existing building systems and support retrofits or new installations for HVAC, process cooling, wastewater, and exhaust. Lead technical engineering responsibilities including code assessments, HAZOP reviews, and oversight of piping, ducting, and equipment sizing for densely packed industrial facilities. Interpret P&IDs, layout drawings, and equipment plans to provide design options while managing stakeholder meetings to drive decisions on cost, schedule, and scope. Conduct field visits at the client site in Wilton, CT, requiring active walking, standing, and lifting up to 25 lbs during normal business hours.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET accredited university
  • At least 10 years of practical application of mechanical facilities design engineering, including HVAC, hydronics, process piping, exhaust, plumbing, and related mechanical facilities systems
  • At least 5 years of design project delivery process experience
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and leadership experience
  • Solid knowledge and application of the mechanical requirements per ASME and ASME B31.3, building codes, fire codes, and other related standards, such as ASHRAE
  • Solid knowledge in practice and procedures for specifications and selection of all types of mechanical equipment and components
  • Experience reviewing vendor submittal packages against client requirements and specifications
  • Field experience interacting with subcontractors and construction personnel
  • Candidate must be willing to commute to the site Monday-Friday during normal business hours
  • Applicant must be able to walk long distances, sit and stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, twist, climb ladders, work on catwalks, work in small spaces, lift and carry up to 25lbs
  • Applicant must complete a background check and drug screen
  • Applicant must be fully authorized to work for any client in the United States

Desired Qualifications

  • EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
  • 5 years of experience as a facility engineer
  • Working knowledge of design-related deliverables, such as P&IDs, PFDs, Details, equipment plans, etc.
  • Proficient working knowledge of design software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM360
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Forward-thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contributing with innovative ideas
  • Passionate about buildings and construction
