Job Summary
Conduct time studies, process mapping, and workflow analysis to identify bottlenecks and process improvement opportunities. Support lean manufacturing initiatives including 5S, kaizen events, standard work development, and waste reduction projects. Collect, analyze, and report production data on cycle times, scrap rates, and equipment performance. Assist in developing process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures. Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis for quality and process-related issues. Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to support engineering trials and process validations. Assist with the design, testing, and implementation of fixtures, tools, or process layout changes. Work three days a week in a manufacturing environment, rotating between office and shop floor duties.
Required Qualifications
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, lean principles, or industrial systems (relevant coursework acceptable in lieu of work experience)
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- Ability to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods, including computer use
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on the shop floor
- Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and twist
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull materials or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and hearing protection, when on the production floor
Desired Qualifications
- Exposure to CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) preferred but not required
