Process Engineer

Job Summary
Lead and manage all process engineering activities for assigned CAPEX projects, defining scope, design intent, and developing concept solutions. Drive engineering deliverables including Basis of Design, process safety studies, risk assessments, and commissioning plans to ensure safe, efficient, and on-budget facility enhancements. Prepare and review technical documentation such as mass and energy balances, PFDs, and P&IDs while approving external and internal deliverables for consistency and accuracy. Provide cost estimates to Project Managers and lead vendor technical appraisals for equipment and personnel. Support the full project lifecycle from concept development through start-up, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and engineering best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Experience leading and managing process engineering activities for assigned CAPEX projects
- Ability to develop process concepts, Basis of Design (BoD), and engineering design documentation
- Capability to define process scope and design intent in collaboration with key stakeholders
- Experience preparing and reviewing deliverables for process safety studies, risk assessments, and hazard reviews
- Ability to prepare and review process calculations, mass and energy balances, PFDs, and P&IDs
- Knowledge of and ability to ensure compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering best practices
- Experience driving safe, reliable, and cost-effective process solutions
- Ability to lead project development and act as lead responsible engineer on a project
- Capability to check and approve external and internal process engineering deliverables for projects
- Experience in technical appraisal of vendors and sub-contractors for suitability of equipment and personnel
- Ability to check and approve third party design work and documents to ensure compliance to Synthomer standards
- Experience providing Process Engineering cost estimates to Project Managers
- Capability to provide technical support during construction
- Experience supporting commissioning strategy, developing plans, and leading teams through commissioning and start-up activities
- Ability to define and lead process resource requirements assigned to a project
- Experience supervising, checking, and approving the work of senior and process engineers in a team
- Capability to drive consistency in process engineering design and development through standardization and implementation of Engineering Best Practices
- Knowledge of local and international standards
- Ability to ensure all process engineering work meets required company standards and statutory requirements
