Job Summary
Process Engineer responsible for design and optimization of balance-of-plant systems for modular process equipment at Startec Compression & Process. Develops and implements process simulations, equipment sizing, control narratives, safety analyses (HAZOP), and design reviews. Leads system integration, commissioning, and collaboration with vendors, operations, and multiple engineering disciplines to deliver economical, compliant designs for compression, fractionation, refrigeration, and related utilities. Manages project coordination, safety initiatives, and performance improvement through data analysis and engineering evaluations in a Calgary-based industrial/power-plant context.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field (required)
- Proven experience as a Process Engineer or similar role in a power generation or industrial plant environment
- Strong knowledge of balance of plant systems and processes, including water treatment, fuel handling, cooling and heating, product storage, ventilation, and auxiliary systems
- Familiarity with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations governing power plant operations
- Experience with process simulations and modeling software
- Experience with equipment sizing, control valve sizing & PSV sizing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental practices in power plant operations
