Job Summary
Drive process improvement, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting through data collection to enhance material utilization, set-up times, and product quality. Own primary plastics processing and sheet extrusion operations by executing Design of Experiments (DOE) to ensure repeatability and reduce variation. Optimize process performance using Operational Excellence and LEAN tools while evaluating material formulations with R&D Lab personnel. Lead long- and short-term projects to achieve facility goals, train staff on engineering topics, and manage customer complaint processes via documentation and trials. Ensure compliance with ISO/IMS policies and engage with commercial representatives to drive yield improvement and labor optimization.
Required Qualifications
- BS Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Significant practical experience with thermoforming equipment
- Minimum five years operations or engineering experience
- 3 years preferred experience in plastics related Industry
- Operational Excellence training, and/or certifications (Lean, Six Sigma, ISO)
- Outstanding leadership characteristics and drive for data driven results
- Analytical and mathematical skills necessary to collect, interpret, and act on process trials and activities
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as EHS standards, operating manuals, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as business periodicals, journals, and government regulations
- Ability to write operational and project reports, correspondence, and policies and procedures
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels in the organization including internal and external associates (including project presentations in group settings). Including the ability to train people
- Ability to meet physical demands associated with position, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
Desired Qualifications
- SAP ERP experience
- Knowledge of budget administration and financial reporting
