Job Summary
Process Engineer – Optical Fabrication at Corning in Fairport, NY. Responsible for supporting optical fabrication processes with emphasis on process stability, yield, throughput, and quality; lead and support process-improvement initiatives to reduce cost, scrap, cycle time and complexity; troubleshoot day-to-day process issues and drive corrective and preventive actions; partner with development/division engineering teams to introduce new products and processes; work with CNC-based equipment, tooling, fixtures, and related process controls; develop and maintain process documentation, train manufacturing personnel on new processes, and collaborate with operations, coating, quality, and other plant engineering teams to resolve issues and improve process performance. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 3+ years of manufacturing-process engineering experience; preferred to have optics/high-precision manufacturing experience, DOE/ Six Sigma knowledge, and familiarity with MasterCam, G-code, Python, Matlab, or Excel-based analysis. The position does not support immigration sponsorship. Salary range is $84,932.00 - $116,782.00 annually. Relocation assistance is available.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Optical, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline
- 3+ years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience with process troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement
- Experience with CNC equipment, precision machining, tooling, or fixtures
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T
