Job Summary
Process Engineer focused on developing and optimizing manufacturing processes in the Color Room. Responsible for leading improvement and capital projects, troubleshooting complex production challenges, and collaborating cross-functionally to deliver safe, efficient, high-quality results. Develop and implement new manufacturing processes using leading-edge technology; translate customer needs into practical process solutions; identify and lead cost-reduction and quality-improvement projects; manage process improvement initiatives from concept through implementation; participate in Lean and Six Sigma efforts; incorporate safety into process improvements. Provide technical support for new products and processes; troubleshoot manufacturing issues with a data-driven approach; identify opportunities for product and process enhancements; drive improvements to yield and product quality while ensuring customer satisfaction; coordinate and train production personnel on new trials, products, and procedures; partner with product development teams to scale from development to full production; lead cross-functional teams and interfaces with customers to deliver value-added solutions; support long-term plant and facilities planning.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Paper Science, or related field; equivalent experience will be considered
- 3-5 years of process engineering experience preferred; candidates with less experience may also be considered
- Strong understanding of chemistry, materials, and coatings
- Demonstrated ability to apply engineering and scientific principles to solve problems and drive measurable improvements
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with customers, leadership, and production personnel
- Business acumen in cost-benefit analysis, project management, and both strategic and tactical planning
- Experience leading cross-functional teams to solve complex challenges
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Willingness to travel as needed
- Effective presentation and reporting skills
- Experience managing technical or capital projects, including budgeting, planning, and execution
- Familiarity with Lean principles and Kaizen event methodology
- Experience with coating processes, coating formulas, or coating equipment
- Experience conducting design of experiments (DOE) and applying statistical process control (SPC)
