Job Summary
Process Engineer at IPG responsible for recommending and implementing improved processes, procedures, equipment, and materials to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency in manufacturing IPG’s products. Responsibilities include developing and conducting employee training, establishing production methods and controls to meet quality standards cost-effectively, evaluating and recommending equipment and processes for new products, investigating and resolving manufacturing process problems, coordinating with outside personnel to meet project objectives, maintaining detailed project records, coaching operators to reduce waste, and developing documentation such as work instructions and procedures to support responsibilities. Requires a BS in a technical field and 4-7 years of manufacturing engineering experience; emphasizes continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, data analytics, and knowledge of plastics chemistry and extrusion; experience with advanced analytics/AI/IIoT is recommended. May involve collaboration with vendors and environmental compliance considerations; role is in-person at specified NC locations.
Required Qualifications
- BS degree in chemical engineering, industrial engineering, or other technical field
- 4-7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or related field
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Solid data analytic skills
- Strong interest and support of continuous improvement processes and lean manufacturing initiatives
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Basic chemical, mechanical and electrical knowledge
- High level of computer literacy, specifically MS Office
- Understanding of plastics chemistry and extrusion process
- Recommended experience with advanced analytics, AI, machine learning, IIOT or advanced process control
- Recommended knowledge in the Toyota Production System
- Recommended Six Sigma certification or experience
- Experience in sustainable practices such as zero landfill or C2C
