Job Summary
Process Engineer in Decatur, AL to provide technical leadership and process optimization in a chemical manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include optimizing assigned process units to improve production, quality, safety, and cost performance; identifying opportunities to enhance process efficiency and reduce operating costs; developing and evaluating tests; investigating issues across production, safety, environmental, and quality realms; supporting PSM, RMP, and regulatory compliance; providing technical support for maintenance and operation of equipment; designing and implementing process improvements and equipment modifications; developing engineering studies and capital project recommendations; coordinating with operations, maintenance, and management to achieve objectives; supporting budgeting and economic performance evaluations; leading or supporting engineering projects, specifying equipment and process technologies, developing procedures and training for new equipment, and coordinating with contractors and vendors; maintaining knowledge of industry best practices and advancing process engineering; supporting environmental initiatives and emissions minimization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
- Minimum 10+ years of Process Engineering experience in chemical manufacturing/petrochemical/refining/petroleum processing
- Distillation process experience preferred; other chemical process engineering backgrounds considered
- Strong knowledge of process optimization, troubleshooting, process safety, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience supporting PSM, RMP, and regulatory compliance programs
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and collaborate with operations, maintenance, and management teams
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills
- Experience evaluating process economics and identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment and support plant operations as needed
- Experience working across diverse teams and cultures preferred
