Process Engineer

Job Summary
Troubleshoot operational issues, interface with operations and maintenance personnel, and develop capital projects ranging from $25K to $6 million, including scope definition, safety reviews, and cost estimates. Lead process hazard reviews, PHA revalidation, and LOPA analysis while executing recommendations to improve process safety, utilities, and plant infrastructure. Identify productivity improvements through data analysis, heat and material balances, and pinch analyses; propose production tests and optimize process operations to meet energy, yield, and selectivity targets. Generate Management of Change documentation and evaluate new technology opportunities for existing units. Collaborate on business development to estimate capital expenditure needs and participate in safety audits. Requires a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering, 5+ years in chemical/petrochemical industry, and flexibility for extended hours and call-outs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
- 5+ years' experience in chemical/petrochemical industry or related industry, in either Engineering or Operations role
- Commitment to high level of safety and environmental awareness
- Self-starter with a focus on results
- Strong collaboration skills
- Strong process understanding and troubleshooting skills
- Flexibility to occasionally work extended hours during weekdays; willing and able to respond to call outs in evenings, weekends and holidays on a non-routine basis
- Have a working knowledge of HAZOP and LOPA methodology
- Excellent written, listening, and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationship with Operations and Maintenance employees
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of heat exchanger design, simulation and rating
- Relief device sizing, specification and selection
- Strong background in computer applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point, ASPEN+ modeling software
- Working knowledge of SAP
- Experience with Vision
- Trained facilitator credentials
- Exhibit good leadership attitudes and behaviors
