Job Summary

Provide daily engineering support to manufacturing operations to resolve schedule attainment issues and improve efficiency across CNC milling, forming, robotics, welding, and packaging. Identify and resolve manufacturing process problems, lead continuous improvement projects, and support new product launches and CAPEX investments. Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLCs, HMIs, and robots while updating schematics and implementing virtual machines for legacy equipment. Serve as primary reviewer for incoming automation projects and execute other duties as assigned. This onsite role in Shelbyville, KY, requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with 3+ years of manufacturing experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Software, Controls or other related field
  • 3+ years' experience in Manufacturing Engineering function
  • Automation and controls experience (robots, vision systems, packaging, etc.)
  • Kaizen, Continuous Improvement, TPS, Lean Manufacturing Methods
  • Familiar with Quality Management Systems, ISO9001.2015 or similar
  • Willing to travel occasionally (<10%)
  • Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
  • Experience with robotics (Fanuc, ABB, or similar)
  • Familiarity with industrial networks
  • Experience with a broad range of controls platforms, including legacy platforms of various brands such as SLC 500 and RSLogix 500
  • Can communicate with these controllers, including specialized hardware
  • Proficiency in various IEC 61131-3 programming languages, emphasizing ladder and structured text
  • Minimum Entry-Level proficiency in computer programming languages, such as BASIC, C, and / or JAVA
  • Experience implementing and using Virtual Machines to support legacy equipment where IDE software is not available or extant for modern operating systems
  • Working knowledge of MS-DOS, Windows 98SE, Windows NT and XP, etc.
  • Experience with servo drivers, stepper drives, and other motion control
