Job Summary
Process Control Project Engineer responsible for leading design and upgrades of DCS projects, managing the technical scope from scoping through design, installation, commissioning, and handover. Serve as the main coordinator with vendors during design and execution, oversee control system programming, FAT/SAT testing, and startup activities, and provide technical guidance to construction crews. Responsibilities include designing control system architectures (PLCs, DCS, HMIs, SCADA), specifying instrumentation and virtualization needs, preparing and maintaining P&IDs, loop sheets, FDS, and electrical schematics, and ensuring documentation is updated (Meridian). Will conduct field walkthroughs with vendors/partners, support on-site commissioning, and participate in safety meetings. Requires collaboration with PMs, participation in daily meetings, and travel to vendor sites or facilities (50+%). Also includes ensuring as-builts, redlines, and handoff to maintenance/operations teams. Knowledge of industry standards (ISA-88/95, IEC 61511) and experience with OT/IT integration are advantageous.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related technical field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in process control, automation engineering, and project management within an industrial environment
- Proficiency in programming and configuring PLCs/DCS/SCADA (e.g., Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell)
- Strong understanding of field instrumentation, motor controls, and industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus)
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and electrical drawings
- Proven track record of successfully managing contractors
Desired Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred)
- Experience with process safety management, SIS, ISA-88/95, IEC 61511 (preferred)
- Experience integrating OT with IT networks (preferred)
- 50+% travel availability (required)
- Strong project management and contractor management skills (preferred)
- PE license (preferred)
