Process Control Engineer Co-Op/Intern - Winter 2027

Job Summary
Conduct process control projects to reduce operational variability and improve recovery metrics at the K2 potash mine. Perform daily troubleshooting, field checks, and system validation for new projects while developing online production monitoring dashboards using PI visualization tools. Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to identify improvement areas, track KPIs, and support circuit optimization efforts. Engage in site safety initiatives including near-miss reporting and risk reduction projects. Maintain databases and write reports while communicating with plant operators, engineers, and management.
Required Qualifications
- Third year of higher level or above by January 2027 pursuing a bachelor's in Chemical Engineer, Industrial Systems Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Process Engineer
- 72% or higher
- Ability to function in an industrial chemical and mining environment
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
- Ability to work full time and be a student in standing at the time of the co-op/internship
- Selected candidates will be required to successfully complete post-offer/pre-placement drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, functional capacity examination
- Basic computer skills
- Eagerness to learn new skills and develop as an engineer
- Experience working in a team environment
- Effective verbal communication skills
- Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat to the safety of his or her own self, or the safety of others
- Able to lift approximately 0-25 lbs. occasionally
- Able to climb stairs and work at various heights
- Able to distinguish varying or specific colors, patterns or materials
- Able to hear, with or without correction
- Able to read, write and understand basic English
- Able to see, with or without correction
- Able to use fine hand motor skills
- Able to wear a respirator
- Must be authorized to work in Canada
- Ability to travel to and from sites and/or office
Desired Qualifications
- Physical work environment is occasionally outdoors with exposure to varying degrees of hot and cold environments
- Effective verbal communication skills is a plus
