Job Summary
Perform thorough pre-admission and pre-procedure nursing assessments, including medical history review, medication reconciliation, and verification of required testing. Identify abnormal findings and communicate concerns to CRNAs, proceduralists, and the clinical team to ensure patient readiness. Provide nursing care and support in the procedure rooms, assisting with safe and efficient endoscopy procedures while monitoring patients during applicable procedures. Deliver patient education regarding the endoscopy experience, preparation, recovery, and discharge instructions throughout the pre-op and PACU phases. Maintain competency across Pre-Admission Testing, pre-op, PACU, and procedure room responsibilities. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to promote patient safety, identify risks, and ensure a seamless patient experience. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff education, and ongoing professional development. Work Monday through Friday with no nights, weekends, holidays, or call at Eastgate Surgery Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in Ohio
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Associate's degree or higher in nursing
- Strong assessment skills and ability to recognize and communicate changes in patient condition
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient advocacy and teamwork
- Ability to work collaboratively with CRNAs, proceduralists, and multidisciplinary clinical teams
- Comfort using EMR systems and Microsoft Windows-based programs
- Willingness and ability to cross-train and provide support throughout the outpatient endoscopy center
- Ability to lift/move up to 30 lbs (occasionally up to 40 lbs; rarely up to 100 lbs)
- Regular interaction with patients of varying ages in a fast-paced outpatient clinical environment
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and chemical hazards consistent with the healthcare setting
- Moderate noise typical of clinical and administrative areas
Desired Qualifications
- Pre-op, PACU, procedure room, endoscopy, ambulatory surgery center, or critical-care experience preferred
