Job Summary
Probation Officer under the Director of Probation Services performs a variety of probation department functions for the 1st District Court. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, counseling or closely related area, and 1–3 years of related experience in criminal justice, counseling, case management or law enforcement. Must obtain CCJP certification, complete LEIN, be fingerprinted, sign the court’s conduct, join MADCPO within the first year and renew annually, and hold a valid driver’s license. Wages follow a wage-grade structure (Non-Exempt).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, counseling or closely related area
- 1 to 3 years of prior experience in criminal justice, counseling, case management or law enforcement or related capacity a plus
- Must sign a Monroe County Court Employee model code of conduct
- Must become a member of the Michigan Association of District Court Probation Officers (MADCPO) within the first year of employment and renew annually
- Obtain & maintain Certified Criminal Justice Professional (CCJP) certification
- Must take the L.E.I.N certification test & be fingerprinted
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
