Job Summary

Decontaminate, clean, process, and sterilize instruments in compliance with Medical University Hospital Authority policies and state/federal requirements. Perform daily diagnostic imaging coverage including instrument handling and sterilization cycles under the supervision of the department manager or shift supervisor. Maintain certification through IAHCSMM or CRCST-HSPA within one year of hire. Work rotating shifts and overtime as required in a fast-paced, high-pressure healthcare environment.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency
  • Ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of processes
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure health care environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • 0-1 year experience as SPD Tech
  • Certification from IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management)

Desired Qualifications

  • Certification through CRCST - HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution)
  • Experience in a hospital or surgical setting
