Job Summary
PRN Speech Therapist SLP in Acute Care at Memorial Hermann (Pearland, TX): evaluates and rehabilitates patients with communication and swallowing disorders; documents findings and progress; provides guidance and training to assistants, students, interns, and rehab techs; serves as a clinical resource and may lead staff development initiatives. Requires Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Texas licensure, ASHA certification, and BLS; 1 year acute care experience and MBSS experience preferred. Weekend coverage required with potential weekday shifts; typical 8:00 AM start with 3–6 hour caseload; PRN schedule with flexibility across patient care areas.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Current license to practice Speech-Language Pathology in Texas
- ASHA Certification in Speech-Language-Hearing
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience: minimum 1 year in acute care preferred; ability to mentor/train staff and supervise interns
- Experience with Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS) preferred
- Ability to commit to PRN weekend/holiday coverage and flexible scheduling
- Strong communication skills and ability to document findings and progress for patients and caregivers
