PRN Specialty Pharmacy Patient Financial Advocate - Hybrid

Job Summary
Secure medication authorization through patient insurance, seek copay assistance options, and apply for free drugs from manufacturer programs for uninsured or underinsured patients. Communicate prescription costs and insurance requirements to patients while resolving billing questions, denials, and inquiries by contacting payers and coordinating documentation. Interpret Medicare/Medicaid rules, review financial documents, and escalate issues to leadership when necessary. Proactively contact patients to explain delays and ensure timely prescription fulfillment. Document all activities in the electronic medical record and communicate payer trends to management.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate
- 3-year of experience in specialty pharmacy, medication assistance, prior authorizations, pharmacy benefits investigation, managed care, financial advising, claims processing, collections, or revenue cycle positions
- Associates Degree in a related field of study from an accredited college or university
- 1-year of experience in specialty pharmacy, medication assistance, prior authorizations, pharmacy benefits investigation, managed care, financial advising, claims processing, collections, or revenue cycle positions
- Must be able to type 45 wpm
- Kansas Pharmacy Technician licensure within 60 days of hire
- Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multi task, prioritize, and escalate
- Demonstrated good oral and written skills
- Knowledge of Insurance (Commercial & Government)
- Knowledge of how to navigate payor websites
- Working knowledge of CMS regulations as applicable to Medicare Part B and D plans
- Epic experience
- Customer service experience
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- 1 or more years of experience using Microsoft Word, Excel or a related computer program
