Job Summary
Assess preoperative and postoperative status including cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, and hemodynamic stability. Interpret monitor data, administer medications safely using the 8-rights, and manage pain, comfort, and fluid balance. Implement individualized peri-anesthesia plans of care for general, MAC, regional, and local anesthesia while protecting patients from injury and infection. Document episodes of care completely, provide patient education on psychosocial and medical management, and perform accurate hand-off reports to teammates. Work in a physically demanding, high-stress environment with irregular hours, adhering to facility policies and universal precautions.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current state licensure to practice in good standings
- Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS certification
- Successful completion of Advanced Life Support (ALS) within 6 months of employment or documentation of current ALS certification
- Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) as required by supervisor when pediatric care is included in the facility scope of services with 6 months of employment or documentation of current PALS certification
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- One year of ICU, ED, PACU, and/or medical/surgical nursing experience
- Specialty certification in Perioperative or Peri anesthesia Nursing
- Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range
- Manual and finger dexterity
- Hand eye coordination
- Standing and walking for extensive periods of time
- Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs
- Working irregular hours
Desired Qualifications
- AHA preferred for BLS certification
- AHA preferred for ALS certification
- AHA preferred for PALS certification
- One year of ICU, ED, PACU, and/or medical/surgical nursing experience preferred
- Specialty certification in Perioperative or Peri anesthesia Nursing preferred
