Job Summary

Provide expert professional nursing care during the pre- and post-operative course, assessing, implementing, and evaluating patient care throughout their surgical experience. Monitor patients continuously during recovery, credentialed to receive all patients including MACs, pediatric, and adult generals. Assist in patient education, discharge instructions, and phone calls while verifying confirmation prior to discharge. Document all care provided, maintain inventory control of supplies, and ensure equipment functions properly. Prepare for emergency situations by adhering to ASC policies and procedures, while maintaining Universal Precautions and cleaning medical equipment between patients. Work 8-10 hour shifts every 4 weeks, Monday through Thursday, at The Surgery Center at Denver Eye Surgeons.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be available to work 8-10 hour shifts every 4 weeks, Monday – Thursday
  • Attends all Mandatory Staff Meetings
  • Maintains a friendly, positive and caring attitude with all patients, physicians and staff
  • Communicates effectively and has the ability to work compatibly with all physicians and staff of the Eye Center
  • Champions the mission statement of Panorama Eyecare
  • Possesses strong organizational skills, is efficient and understands the importance of efficiency and cost effectiveness in an ambulatory surgery setting
  • Knowledge of clinical skills
  • Ability to make quick assessments of patients and handles emergency situations effectively and quickly
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintains a professional demeanor, including dress and work conversation
  • Flexible in working hours
  • Demonstrates Age Specific competencies for Adult and Pediatric patients
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current Colorado RN state license
  • BLS, ACLS and PALS (complete within 3 months of employment)
  • Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time (up to 12 hours per day) in a fast-paced setting
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop and twist without restriction, pain or discomfort
  • Ability to assist patients in turning, rising from recliners and stretchers
  • Ability to assist patients in and out of wheelchairs, push wheelchairs
  • Ability to assist with moving patients on and off the operating room stretcher
  • To be considered for this position, candidate must have received, or be willing to receive, the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire, unless a valid medical or religious exemption can be provided

Desired Qualifications

  • Two years of pre-operative, recovery room, intensive care or emergency room experience is desired
  • Previous experience in EMR preferred
  • Preferred accomplishments include experience in Ophthalmology Surgery
