Job Summary

Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antineoplastics agents, and targeted therapies while demonstrating clinical expertise in hazardous drug therapies for malignant and nonmalignant conditions. Provide safe patient care by addressing biological, emotional, developmental, and psychosocial needs through evidence-based practice and individualized planning. Serve as a clinical resource to nursing staff, operational leadership, and medical staff while participating in staff meetings, special projects, and continued education. Act as a preceptor for newly hired RN colleagues and mentor staff or students to ensure a qualified workforce. Float between Cobb Hospital HOD's based on staffing needs, with local travel required within 35 miles.

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Knowledge of the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act
  • Understanding of the American Nurses Association Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards
  • Knowledge of hazardous drug therapies for treating malignant and nonmalignant conditions
  • Competency in administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antineoplastics agents, hazardous drugs, and targeted therapies
  • Understanding of age-appropriate and culturally aware patient needs
  • Ability to address patient/family biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and education needs
  • Ability to serve as a clinical resource to nursing staff, operational leadership, and medical staff
  • Ability to attend and participate in staff meetings, in-services, special projects, and continued education
  • Ability to serve as a preceptor for newly hired RN colleagues
  • Ability to float between Cobb Hospital HOD's based on need
  • Chemotherapy competence
  • Ability to complete initial and ongoing professional competency assessments
  • Ability to complete required mandatory education
  • Ability to complete population-specific education
  • Ability to serve as a preceptor and/or mentor for other professional nurses, staff, or students
  • Commitment to providing the highest quality care
  • Ability to engage in continuing education
  • Ability to earn or maintain a specialty oncology certification
  • Ability to obtain 12 continuing education credits annually
  • Ability to promote evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement in nursing
  • Ability to participate in value analysis as part of the decision-making process in evaluating patient care products
  • Ability to uphold all health care system/organizational policies and procedures
  • Ability to uphold clinical competencies put forth by the job description and professional association
  • Knowledge of legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements and standards
  • Ability to ensure TJC Patient Safety Goals and WellStar Health Systems safety absolutes
  • Ability to participate in data collection
  • Ability to pose relevant clinical questions to advanced evidence-based practice
  • Ability to consult appropriate experts
  • Ability to use appropriate resources and evidence to address practice questions
  • Ability to proactively plan for the care of patients across the care continuum
  • Ability to participate in the development of protocols and procedures
  • Ability to collaborate with care managers and other members of the health care team
  • Ability to support efficient and effective use of human and material resources
  • Ability to comply with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of ethics
