Job Summary
Assists physician and in charge registered nurse with basic patient care, including taking vital signs, IV initiations, blood draws, and assisting with assessments, examinations, and treatment. Operates radiologic equipment to produce radiographs and CT scans for diagnostic purposes, ensuring proper techniques and uploading images for radiology reads. Performs supportive tasks such as crutch walking, dressing changes, and splint application while reporting lab and radiology results immediately to nursing and medical staff. Requires two years of hospital or emergency room experience, ARRT certification, and current Texas license. Involves prolonged standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and strict adherence to privacy and security laws to protect patient data.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Applied Science or equivalent with diploma/certification from accredited school of Radiology Technologist
- At least Two (2) years experience as a Radiology Technologist at a hospital or emergency room setting
- ARRT Certification
- CPR/BLS Certification
- Current license from the Texas Department of State Health Service for Radiology Technologist
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- Knowledge of the current trends and techniques of x-ray technology
- Ability to learn to conduct quality control studies
- Ability to learn to use computerized radiologic equipment
- Ability to learn to operate a computer for recordkeeping purposes
- Basic Computer knowledge
- Prolonged periods standing, reaching and bending
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Physical strength and agility to position patients for a variety of diagnostic examinations
